About Our Church
We believe that Jesus transforms lives and communities.
St Matt’s Ashbury is a new Inner-West Anglican Church community. Each week we come together for a church gathering, followed by a meal and time together into the evening.
We believe in the power of Jesus to transform lives and communities and we love learning more about Jesus and the Christian faith through reading and preaching God’s word The Bible.
We are a church who love singing and praying together, seeking to create rich, moving and enjoyable spaces for adoring Christ.
We place a high value on hospitality, and in people of all ages and backgrounds being able to experience the beauty of Christian community.
We would love to share Jesus and our beautiful church family with you. :)

Our Story
In 2024, St Matt’s Ashbury opened it’s doors and publicly launched. Here is the story of what lead up to that wonderful moment, and what’s been happening since.
In 2022, the Anglican Parishes of St Paul’s Canterbury and St Matt’s Ashbury amalgamated, forming one parish with ministry ceasing at the Ashbury site. The view was always to begin a new St Matt’s ministry again, and in 2023 St Paul’s Canterbury brought Dan Gale onto the team to begin building a team and preparing to plant a church. That church formed in November of 2023, and after 3 months of prayer, planning and growing together as a community, they decided they were ready to open their doors.
Since then they have been meeting together, seeking to share the truth and love of Jesus, and to be a blessing to one another, and to the community of Ashbury and the inner west at large.
